New in South Lyon and tried this place out because we wanted some casual steaks, nothing too fancy, for the night. Ordered the rib eye and new york strip steaks and they came out well seasoned, but a tad bit more overcooked than the medium-rare we had asked for. We also got their spinach and artichoke dip and upgraded to a loaded baked potato. Their dip was alright - it felt more like melted stringy cheese with spinach folded in so every scoop we had was stringy and a bit difficult to get a right portion of it onto our chips. I was expecting more of a dip feel, smooth and what not, but taste-wise it was ok. The loaded baked potato was a little on the dry side from being overcooked so I didnt care for it. Interior is nice and pretty intimate. It was actually a little smaller than what I was expecting, but it was still a good experience.

I've lived in Lyon township for 5 years now. The Lyon grill and Lake street tavern are my go-to restaurants. If I'm feeling like a burger and a beer, I'll be at the Tavern. If I need something more complex then I'll be at the Lyon Grill. I highly suggest the fish & chips, the spinach & feta pizza roll, steak bites, and the Old Country Pizza. The BBQ ribs and steaks are good and you can't go wrong with one of their pizzas. I also recommend their lyon grill salad if you like bleu cheese. Lastly, They've got about 10 pasta dishes that I haven't tried yet, I hear the rattlesnake pasta is pretty good. PS - If you want a steak medium, you typically have to order it medium rare.

Eh ! Only ate once. Food tasted from the can. If you want typical american cantina, this is your joint. If you want to step it up go to burrito king. Food is priced decent and portions are fair.

While on a Saturday adventure, I stopped here for some lunch. It was a bit empty considering it was around 4pm, but had picked up quite a bit by the time we had left. The place looks like it may have been a Taco Bell in its past life, but it is very nice looking on the inside. We had the cheese bread for an appetizer, since we have a 1 year old with only 6 teeth. The cheese bread came out delicious! It was crispy and very cheesy. We were quite impressed, and then glad that we had ordered a pizza to split for dinner. We had ordered the Lyon special, which was smoked red peppers, garlic, chicken, and mozzarella. It was delish! I never would have expected to have such a great meal in a small place! If in the area, I'd definitely go there again!

Some of the best service and food in town! Love this restaurant, it's a go to for me for good food and great service every single time!!

The food was mediocre at best. The only thing that saved our experience was the blonde server who was in training. She was awesome! Not to mention they charged me 1$ for a side of ranch. If you want a good experience, go somewhere else!

This place is noisey you will have a difficult time talking with others at your table.

If you're in South Lyon and you need a nicer place that's a step above a coney island or the border cantina, this is your restaurant. The service was decent and the food was quite good, but unfortunately the prices are pretty high. We ended up paying somewhere around $50 for the two of us to have pasta and pop. The building also has a very tall ceiling which makes it very loud inside. Not the intimate atmosphere that you would hope for at a place with steak, seafood and $18 pasta. Still, there isn't anything like this in town, so it serves a purpose.

This is not the place to go if you are looking for FRESH, HIGH-QUALITY food. Local crap is still crap (I don't care for that word, but it is the most fitting). And it's super $$$ for crap. I have to say, it takes a lot for me to write a negative review, as I like to give grace where grace is due. That said, our experience at this restaurant left me feeling incredibly deceived. Maybe it was the fact I went in with great expectations; we were in the area having one of our children assessed at a local therapy center, and a native to the area had recommended it as a place we check out for FRESH, HIGH-QUALITY food options (I have it in mind to ask what they were thinking!!). I think it also had to do with the atmosphere that you walk into, as it does appear to be a nicer ambience than some establishments, at first glance. Our experience however, left me disappointed to say the least. It's loud and cramped- our waitress and the one at the table directly accross from us had to swap space because they could not both fit in the aisle together comfortably. And the food, where do I begin? Well, how about price. It's EXPENSIVE - and I am not one give to sticker shock much. I know quality comes with a price tag. For what you get it is so pricey I about spit out the ice I had in my mouth as I began to look over the menu. We had our 5 children with us (who were VERY hungry), who all ordered off the children's menu. My husband had a sandwhich and I ordered the nachos from the appetizer menu - $70!!!!!!!!! Of course that is including tip - we will not fault the waitstaff for such a poor establishment, and my husband having been a waiter himself, will not tip less than 20% unless the service is VERY poor. Still, $70 for our meal was ridiculous. We don't dine out much at all, but we do know quality, and we for sure know REAL when it comes to food. I'm not even sure the "chili" on my nachos was meat - the chips were greasy and definitely not fresh. The toppings were minimal; really it was just terribly unappetizing. My children were unimpressed as well, two ordered fish and chips, two ordered sliders, and another had the chicken tenders. Very bar like, highly processed, and definitely not fresh. When the waitress came over to take care of our check she asked us if everything was good, and my husband said "Yes, thank you." As she walked away he looked at me and said "Did I just lie for you?" The look on my face was reassurance enough. I shoot it straight, this is no bull. If you are into greasy, highly processed, comfort food and are willing to pay way more than it's worth for a little more upscale "looking" ambiance, then you'll pry fare well. But if you care about quality, and fresh, real food - steer VERY clear of this place. Don't make the $70 mistake we did!!!!

First off, the food here is great, have never had a bad bite yet. But, today once again we were reminded why don't eat her more often. Called in takeout order, told 15 minutes for 3 simple appetizers. Arrive 20 minutes later only to watch the manager enter in my order that she forgot to enter when we called. And what was that extra 1.50 entered into the computer before the bill was printed? Stood right there and watched her bring up my order, enter the food items than add an addition 1.50, wtf? Automatic gratuity for forgetting to enter my order? Seat rental fee for the privilege of waiting for my order? This place is expensive but damn. NOTE: My wife thinks this was the charge for the three sides of ranch dressing (shouldn't that come with fried pickles that cost over 7 bucks an order?) 15 minutes after "actually" placing our order, out comes the food, right on queue. Still giving 3 stars for the great food but minus 100 for just plan laziness, good grief..

Underwhelmed. The food is unremarkable and, in my opinion, overpriced. I wanted to like this place, our waitress was good and the interior is casual and contemporary. However, we left feeling so-so and not compelled to return and try again.

The best restaurant in South Lyon. I've never had a bad meal here. The salmon is great and the portions are just right.

This place is high-society with a small town feel. The land that this establishment sits was the Golden Platter for the longest time. It was a family restaurant that we used to refer to as the "Greasy Spoon." I always loved that place because it was dirtier than a Big Boy but classier than a Ram's Horn. So to eat at a place that built it's walls from the ground up, I was uber impressed. I was with a party of 5 today (insert Sallinger jokes here) and was very satisfied from the get go. We were with some VIPs of South Lyon and regulars of the restaurant, so I don't know if that impacted the results at all. We started with the calimari and spinach/artichoke dip as appetizers. The calimari tasted fresh and the breading was very light...not too "packaged" tasting. The spinach/artichoke dip was rich and creamy, perfect for spooning on to tortilla chips. I ordered the fish and chips for lunch. Our meals came very quickly and everything was fresh and hot. I was very satisfied at how light and fluffy everything was. It's definitely on the higher end of pricing, but if you're looking to get away and stay close to home, this is the place to do it. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Lyon Grille!

I've lived in South Lyon for a long time and seen a lot of restaurants come and go. I have been to this as well as every other restaurant in South Lyon many times. Lyon Grille consistantly serves top notch food and provides excellent service. It is by far the best restaurant in South Lyon.

If you want to pay high-prices for stuff straight out of a bag, jar, carton or fryer than this is the place for you. The food quality is terrible for the price. Additionally, we asked for a high-chair 3x and then just gave up. We will never go back.
(2)David X.
The food was outstanding. The prices are reasonable. The service was outstanding. The place has the look of an upscale place without the upscale prices.

This is the third time I've eaten here and have always had a decent meal. This is probably the most modern and classy bar/restaurant in South Lyon and the prices reflect that. I keep going back to my go-to, the chicken club, and the chips that come along with the sandwiches are very good! They have a decent selection of beers and their menu has a wide range of entrees from salads to pastas, steaks and pizzas.

I had the special: Cabbage Rolls, they were fantastic

I want to write a humane review of the Lyon Grille. The people working here have never been anything but kind and friendly. And they should get points just for having the stones to open an establishment in economically depressed South Lyon... ...and yet... As nice as the building and wait staff are, the food is sorely lacking. The Reuben looked good, but was too fatty for my taste. The Burger I got was warmish and sub par. The salads I have attempted both failed to impress. The one "highlight" are the fried pickles. They are too salty, maybe the worst I've had...but still addicting (can one really go wrong with fried pickles?) In conclusion: the South Lyon Cantina has some great food, as does Fortuna Inn. South Lyon's Coney Islands are formidable. Brown's is always Awesome...but are now closed for the winter. So...when my choices for more of a sit-down meal boil down to the Lyon Grille or the Lake Street Tavern, I will probably give the Grille another try. Or maybe I'll just head to Northville. Maybe Ann Arbor (:

I really like the food here. The breakfasts are always enjoyable, large portions and good prices. However, the dinner menu is pretty over-priced. They changed their menu from their Americana down to earth favorites to more up scale and pricey fare. I'm not much of a fan. I go for the good breakfasts, but there are better places to drop $40 for dinner.

Great food and nice portions. I have had the burgers, fish, and breakfast here and have never regretted the half hour drive it takes to come here. It's a real gem of solid Americana food away from the obnoxious restaurants that plague AA. My only complaints are that there are TVs (always a sign of weakness in a restaurant), and the music is often too loud and lousy (which is maybe why it seems too loud...). Still, a favorite of mine that I will go to again and again.

Stopped in here for the first time last night for dinner. Outside is very deceiving. Interior is very upscale and comfortable. Not too many patrons when we arrived but it filled up after 8 pm. Menu has a good variety and is moderately priced. Four of us had a classic burger, turkey reuben, citrus chicken pasta and a chicken breast sandwich. I had a cup of chicken and dumpling soup that was very good. It had a nice stock, okay amount of chicken and the dumplings were not overcooked. Burger was very good and came with kettle chips and pickle. Turkey reuben was thick sliced turkey breast and big enough for two. Citrus chicken pasta was a very pleasant surprise and also big for two. Lots of red pepper, chicken and fried artichoke on top. Service was great and we were well attended. Might be a little pricey but now that we know what the place is like we will be back at some point to try lunch and other dinner items. Definitely worth a try.

Good to great food. Full range of prices, from burgers around the $8 mark to more splurge-type items in the $20s. I'd say their strong suit is actually the mid-range entrees. (Although the burgers are all great; so is chicken club and the BLT.) Perhaps they're just my favorite. I see the older reviews are a little less complimentary, but I would definitely give this place a shot. Since I moved here in late 2011, this has been a go-to spot. I'd much rather spend my money here than any of the national chains. Food is far better. Can be a bit loud with the music sometimes - just ask them to turn it down. Maple-cured porkchop is priced right for portion, and very tasty. Cajun-chicken is enormous - 2 full breasts, tender, juicy plus your choice of potato. You'll have leftovers unless you share; maybe even if you share. Baked whitefish, blackened is my favorite. Crab cakes also good. Fish and chips, also good, large portion. (Favorite if we have kids in tow, is also on the kids menu - which offers fruit instead of fries at your request.) Pasta Sinatra and Rattlesnake Pasta are also excellent. (The latter can be a bit oily sometimes; just ask your server for light on the oil.) We prefer to upcharge for sweet potato fries, extra crispy for burgers/sandwiches. Salads are large. I like the chef and michigan cherry - slightly upgraded versions of the standard fare. My favorite appetizer is the mussels. (A lot of the others are very starchy or doughy, easy to fill up on, and not the stars of the menu anyway.) We've ordered pizzas a couple of times. Crust is thin. The Old Country is like a Margherita pizza with sunflower seeds. (Don't knock it till you try it; the crunch is actually very nice.) The Spinach is great too, but verra garlicky. I might ask for light garlic next time. (My dinner partner would say it was awesome as-is.) Of the desserts, we've tried the Death by Chocolate, Italian Lemon Creme Cake, and the Carrot Cake. All are great. The Death by Chocolate is...well, it SEEMS like a mess and that it won't work well, but it's pretty good and great to share. (Coffee here is excellent. Haven't had a bad cup yet.) Speaking of coffee, brunch! They started brunch around 6 months ago...maybe a bit earlier. It's offered on Sunday only, but it's worth it. Yes, it's pricier than hitting up a diner. As it should be. Eggs Benedict, California Omelet, Floridian French Toast are favorites. If you think you can just order a whole order of pancakes to share as a side, don't. They're enormous. Ask for a side order - they'll bring you one regular size one.

I wrote a review on another site and it was quickly deleted. I don't trust review sites that only show the good. I tried to give the Lyon Grille a chance I ate there 4 times. The service is the worst around. They have these high walled booths in the middle that block your view of the waitress or hers of you! . My last time was the worst. They tried to feed me mushy croutons, cold vegetables and old dry bread sticks . They were so old and dry they shattered when squeezed. Took them 5 minutes to check back after serving me this. My steak was half gone by now. They offered to make me new bread sticks, and offered only an excuse on the croutons. I just wanted out of there. I told them I would never return. I was charged full price, even though I couldn't eat the salad or bread sticks.! Much better places to eat in the area.

One of the downsides to living in South Lyon is the lack of nice restaurants. We have way too many fast food restaurants and coney islands, and the remaining restaurants are mostly bars or taverns (with a few exceptions) with food I have been to the Lyon Grill three times, twice for breakfast and once for dinner. They have a great breakfast menu, with crepes, breakfast burritos, and even sweet potato pancakes, along with traditional items like omlets and breakfast specials. I've sampled most of these items and they were all great, especially the omlets and sweet potato pancakes. I also love their hashbrowns, which are cooked perfectly so they have a nice crunch on the outside. The dinners aren't quite as impressive, but the menu does offer some variety in terms of sandwiches, burgers, etc. The burger I had was good but not particularly memorable. I'll have to give it another try to see if there is something I'm missing from the dinner menu. The service here seems a bit slow sometimes, and it can get quite busy during dinner time. There also isn't any place to wait for a table, which is an issue in the winter time. Overall, I recommend the Lyon Grill, especially for breakfast/brunch.

The Lyon Grill has by far the best reasonable priced menu selection in the small town of South Lyon. The entire menu is prepared with excellent culinary skills and presented with outstanding warm friendly smiling talent. Everything on the menu is cooked fresh to order and the atmosphere is outstanding for anyone to enjoy. They have a fully stocked bar with a great wine selection and save room for some of the best desserts around the South Lyon area (key lime pie or homemade bread pudding with: a scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream and sprinkled cinnamon is my favorite). When my family comes into town for a visit, they always want to eat at least one evening at the Lyon Grill. They also love the food, staff, service and atmosphere. Overall the Lyon Grill is a must for family, friends and guest to enjoy a fabulous evening out.
